The show, which will team Gaga with veteran TV news announcer Katie Couric, was, of course, conceived and directed by Mother Monster herself and will feature the singer performing eight songs in front of a small audience of her friends and family, according to a press release announcing the show. Couric will also sit down for an interview in which she asks Gaga about the inspiration for some of her songs as the two chat at Gaga’s New York alma mater, Sacred Heart Catholic School.

“We all know Lady Gaga is a phenomenon,” Couric said in a statement. “This is a chance to see more of who she is beneath the wild costumes and staged musical numbers … Lady Gaga as a high school student still bruised by being excluded from the party, Lady Gaga as a devoted daughter and caring sister, Lady Gaga as a 25-year-old woman embracing fame and fortune that seemed to come overnight. She will impress you, delight you and surprise you.” 


In addition to her new single, “Marry the Night,” and other songs from Born This Way (“You and I,” “The Edge of Glory”), Gaga will perform “White Christmas” and her duet with Tony Bennett, “The Lady Is a Tramp.”

The foundation announced on Tuesday that those performers, along with others to be announced — a group promised to collectively represent “the most influential and socially responsible artists in music, film and television” — will be taking part in “A Decade of Difference: A Concert Celebrating 10 Years of the William J. Clinton Foundation,” at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 15. The show will be broadcast live online by Yahoo.

“I am proud that some of today’s most influential performers are coming together to raise awareness about the work of my foundation,” President Clinton said in a statement. “In the past decade, commitments to my Clinton Global Initiative have improved the lives of more than 300 million people around the world. The ‘Born This Way’ singer used the 41st episode of her Gagavision TV show, which is broadcast on her official YouTube channel, to announce the date for the track.

A message appeared on the screen with the date of the forthcoming release, which will be her second single from the ‘Born This Way’ album.

The five-minute show also gave fans a glimpse of the ‘Poker Face’ singer’s rehearsals for her Judas video shoot.

The single was expected to be unveiled before GaGa’s Monster Ball Tour kicks off with a performance on ‘Good Morning America’ on May 27.

Gaga debuted the $5 red and white wristband — marked with the phrase “We Pray for Japan” — on her Twitter page Friday. Featuring the phrase in both English and Japanese, the bracelet also includes Gaga’s signature Little Monsters claw motion.

With no apparent sense of irony, the New Jersey nymphette spent three hours inside the plastic egg during rehearsals “getting into character”.

According to one straight-faced aide, Gaga was “in an embryonic state and won’t be born until the performance”.

Moments before going on stage, she Tweeted [who knew embryos carried Blackberrys?]: “This is Nicola, Haus of Gaga: Gaga is in incubation. Tonight’s performance is in collaboration with Hussein Chalayan and House of Mugler. X.”

Once on stage, she “hatched” from the by-now glowing egg – from whence she had avoided suffocation by frantically sucking on an oxygen tank – to perform her rather underwhelming new “gay anthem” Born This Way (geddit?).

Dubbed a Madonna-lite ditty – think a Eurovision slaughtering of Express Yourself – the brilliantly hyped performance must have left granny Madge chewing the skirting boards as she watched from [the care] home.

Wearing a yolk-coloured Latex bra, skirt and revealing a bare stomach, Gaga completed the look with black lipstick and a long, pink side-ponytail. It was Madonna circa Blonde Ambition tour. Or a sonic Su Pollard.

She later accepted three Grammys – best female pop vocal and best video, both for Bad Romance, and best pop vocal album for The Fame Monster – dressed in a dominatrix outfit.

And she left organisers hitting the mute button as she collected her best album gong with an: “Oh, s***!” The yolk’s on you Gaga.

According to a press release, the singer has teamed up with global beauty company Coty Inc. to release the line. As with most Gaga originals, the project will be a collaborative effort between the singer and her Haus of Gaga design family. While it was reported last month that the fragrance would be called Monster, the release did not confirm the name.

“Lady Gaga’s universal appeal makes her a subject of fascination,” Coty CEO Bernd Beetz explained in the release. “A force like no other, Lady Gaga is explosive, provocative and sexy, three traits which pave the way for an extraordinary fragrance experience for consumers.”

Though Gaga is joining a long list of other celebrities with their own fragrances, Beetz said that the team is aiming at marking new territories with this scent. “We welcome Lady Gaga to the Coty family and look forward to breaking boundaries that will allow people to experience beauty in a different and unique way,” he said.

The marketing plans for the fragrance are still in development, but Gaga’s “little monsters” can expect the scent to make a splash on the scene that differs from her pop-star peers. Coty marketing exec Steve Mormoris described the forthcoming campaign for the fragrance as “unprecedented and groundbreaking” and said he hopes to create a packaging design that encompasses the singer’s “artistic sensibility.”
